“From the outset, my intention was to create a home that felt light-filled, calm, and closely connected to its surroundings. The design evolved around a U-shaped plan with a central courtyard, and extensive glazing was fundamental to achieving that vision.
The timber windows and doors from Acacia became an integral architectural element of the home. They are not just functional components, but a defining feature that enhances both the aesthetic and the liveability of the spaces. I specifically chose timber for its warmth, appearance, and enduring quality, alongside strong performance requirements including double glazing and structural integrity. The result is a beautifully resolved balance of craftsmanship and practicality.
The scale of glazing throughout the living and dining areas captures expansive views to Cambewarra Mountain and fills the home with natural light throughout the day. Visitors frequently comment on the windows – they are both substantial and elegant, with a refined finish that sits comfortably within the overall design.
I am extremely pleased with the outcome. The quality of the joinery has more than met my expectations, and it has been central to achieving the overall success of the home. For me, quality is far more important than cost, and I feel I made the right decision.”
