Materials, fabrications and finishes

Acacia uses only the highest quality timbers. We work with Spotted Gum, Blackbutt, Flooded Gum, Ironbark, Tallowwood, Western Red Cedar and New Guinea Rosewood, with others available on request. We prefer to source timber from suppliers certified under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Australian Forestry Standards Certifications (AFSC). Learn more about our materials.

Timber is a cost-effective choice, outlasting most other materials while adding to property value and enhancing the health and wellbeing of its occupants. When expertly crafted and coated, timber is easy to maintain, requiring little more effort than any other material while providing a higher level of durability that means less replacement and repair costs.

Yes—the performance of solid timber hardwoods is minimally impacted by proximity to the ocean and sea salt; most wharves are constructed from native hardwoods such as Ironbark due to the strength and durability they offer. And of course, timber will never rust. When choosing timber products for coastal areas, we recommend slightly more frequent recoating for optimal longevity.

Australian hardwoods will not rot, particularly Class 1 durability timbers such as Blackbutt, Spotted Gum, Ironbark, and Tallowwood. With adequate maintenance, these timbers will last hundreds of years—just look at the many bridges, wharves and buildings constructed from native hardwoods as many as 200 years ago, still going strong.

Acacia provides a range of premium hardware in various finishes, blending functionality and style to complement our bespoke timber designs. We also offer a range of child locks and wire screens for optimum safety and comfort.

We offer a variety of finishes, from clear coatings that showcase the individuality of the selected timber to custom stains and paints to match your design preferences. We also have our own range of premium clear coatings and primers.

Double glazing improves energy efficiency by reducing heat loss in winter and minimising heat gain in summer. It also enhances sound insulation, creating a quieter, more comfortable home environment. Learn more about glass types.
