Pittwater NSW
Nestled within a secluded location in Sydney's Pittwater, Enclave House designed by Bohane Campo Architects, and built by Avalon Constructions, is a bespoke residence carefully embedded within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park – an exclusive Sydney setting accessible only by water.
Conceived as a primary residence with a separate studio, the project draws on a restrained palette of metal, concrete, stone and Spotted Gum. The material language is deliberate and composed, balancing durability with refinement while anchoring the architecture to its natural surrounds.
For Acacia, the joinery demanded a high level of resolution. Each window and door was meticulously detailed to respond to complex junctions and interfaces, aligning precisely with the architectural intent. In close coordination with the builder, structural openings were formed to receive frameless units, allowing the joinery to integrate directly within prepared heads and sills. Concealed hardware and fixed-in tracks reinforce a clean, uninterrupted expression, where the presence of the timber is felt without visual excess.
The remote nature of the site introduced a further layer of complexity. With no road access, every stage required careful planning and coordination – from early site visits through to final delivery – with all joinery transported across Pittwater by boat. This logistical constraint shaped both process and sequencing, demanding precision not only in manufacture, but in execution.
The result is a resolved and cohesive outcome. Materiality, detail and craftsmanship are expressed with clarity and restraint, allowing the architecture to sit quietly within its environment while maintaining a strong and deliberate presence.
